Community and After-School Recreation Leader
This position is available from September to May.
Rate of pay: 8.00 per hour
Hours of Work:
Tuesday-Thursday 5:00-11:00pm; Friday 12:00pm-5:00pm or 5:00-11:00pm; Saturday 8:30-2:30 or 10:00-4:00
The days and times worked will vary depending on the staffing needs for each of the activites.
Supervisors: Program Coordinators
Qualifications: Good driving record; clean criminal background history; first aid/ CPR; ability to lift, transfer and provide physical assistance to campers; see, hear, and respond to emergency situations. Prefer experience with people with disabilities in a community or therapeutic setting.
Specific Responsibilities: Provide for the transportation, supervision and care needs for kids, teens, and adults with disabilities during community and after-school activities. 1. Safely drive camp vehicles in accordance with Utah state law 2. Learn and be familiar with vehicle breakdown and safety procedures 3. Have good driving record and present record for employee file 4. Assist participants with loading and unloading of vans 5. Ensure participant safety and seatbelt use during driving 6. Accurately record van log and gas fill-up sheets 7. Quickly report van maintenance issues 8. Assist with setting up activity supplies 9. Supervise participants in camp and community activities 10. Use accepted behavior modification principles during interactions with participants 11. Encourage appropriate behavior between participants 12. Work to maximize participant abilities and assist as needed 13. Respond to emergency and illness situations during activities 14. Become familiar with the individual nature of each participant 15. Properly use camp cell phones 16. Physically assist campers with mobility impairments (pushing wheelchair, supporting balance, assisting in and out of vans) 17. Provide assistance with personal care of campers, including assistance with eating, grooming, using restroom, transferring in and out of wheelchair, or other self-care tasks 18. Protect the rights of people with disabilities in their quest to be a part of the community 19. Ensure that the safety of the participants is always protected 20. Help ensure that the activities are fun for the participants 21. Provide supervision and guidance to volunteers at activities 22. Properly record attendance logs and activity evaluations 23. Assist with post activity cleanup, if needed
