Challenge Ropes Course

Challenge Course ( also known as "The Ropes" )

ropes course #2For guests seeking more excitement and adventure during their stay, the Kostopulos Dream Foundation operates a leadership challenge program. One aspect of this program is the use of our challenge ropes course area. We offer two different courses for use by our guests.

The low challenge course is a structure comprised of telephone poles and aircraft cable. It is sectioned into different elements that require balance and confidence to complete.

Examples of low course elements include a rope bridge, swinging horizontal pole, and a wire walk. The elements are built just a few feet off the ground, so safety is provided by the attentive spotting practices of your teammates. Each individual has an opportunity to attempt the different elements and several elements may be attempted in pairs or groups. Trained facilitators will guide your group through each of the elements and assist your group with processing the deeper implications of what it means to be supported by the group.

Have you ever done a zip line or leapt to the trapeze bar? How about climbing to the top of a telephone pole? The high challenge course at Camp Kostopulos has all this and more.

Trained facilitators will guide you through an experience not soon to be forgotten. The high challenge course is similar to the low course in that there are elements of varying difficulty for participants to attempt. The main difference is that now you are 25 feet off the ground. The safety on a high challenge course comes from the use of rock climbing harnesses and ropes while skilled belayers assist you in attempting the elements. Climbing wall

The initial training includes a medical prescreening, use of harnesses, carabiners, helmets, and a review of verbal commands used when participating.

For some individuals, just climbing the pole will be enough. Others may want to try all seven high elements which include a rope bridge, zip line, rope ladder, high balance log, and trapeze. Participants will set their own goals for the high course, strive to reach them, and be safely lowered to the ground by the belayer.

Because each individual may have differing levels of comfort, noon but the climber makes the choice to participate. All staff is trained in facilitation, hardware use and safety. The high challenge ropes course is built to standards set by the national challenge course certifying group.
