Volunteers
Camp Kostopulos depends on the support of
the community to maintain our high quality facility and current
programs. Many groups express interest and assist us in continuing
our vision. Our volunteers serve in many ways - from spending time
with campers to using their muscles and participating in numerous
grounds projects. We could never do it without you.
Volunteerism and service are at the heart of our
agency. Each year groups and individual volunteers give their
time
and effort to ensure our success. Whether it is a physical project,
assistance with the camp programs, or financial contributions,
the
lasting effects we receive cannot be understated. We depend on
the support of our community and our community has never let us
down.
If you have time, equipment, or knowledge to share with us please
contact the volunteer coordinator.

Camp Kostopulos Summer
Camp
Many opportunities exist to assist with the summer
camp program. Camps run Monday through Friday from 8am-9pm each
day. During the week volunteers can help a child catch a fish, ride
a horse, or get harnessed up for the ropes course. Many summer voluneers
come once a week for a few hours, while others may come up for thirty
hours during one of the camp weeks. Groups of volunteers also have
staged carnivals, theme parties, or adventure activites.
Leisure Education Programs
During the fall, winter, and spring, the Kostopulos
Dream Foundation offers several recreation programs for kids, teens,
and adults with disabilities. These programs include:
- K-Kid Adventures Afterschool Program
This program is offered on short days of school for kids age
7-12 with disabilities. We take these groups to activities at
Camp K, and other community venues. Activities include horseback
riding, swimming, movies, arts and crafts, and cross country
skiing. --Friday 12:00-5:00
- Teen Quest Program
This is an evening and weekend program that allows teens the
chance to explore their community and forge new friendships.
We participate in activities such as: dance parties, movies,
winter sports, bbq's, horseback riding, and holiday events.
-Fridays 5:00-10:00; Some Saturdays
- Adult Social Club
This group of adults has been enjoying community recreation
activities for many years now. This program meets once or twice
a week, and we enjoy activities that develop physical skills,
allow community access, and enjoy socializing and friends. Tuesdays
5:00-10:00; Some Saturdays

Projects
Help us to renovate and preserve the facility by
working on trails, structures, or grounds. This is a good opportunity
for business groups, individuals, or church groups. We can work
with groups up to 100 people. Examples of past projects include:
construction of an accessible horseback riding dock, renovation
of camper cabins, installation of accessible playground, and helping
us install a sprinkler system. If your group is looking for a project
that is different from the rest, give us a call.
Special Events
At various times throughout the year, the Kostopulos
Dream Foundation has a need for groups of volunteers to assist with
one-time projects or special events. These include mass mailings,
camp cleanup days, or our yearly auction dinner. We have a need
for groups of up to twenty members for these events.
Experienced Gained
Volunteers in our program will gain experience working
with people aged 7-70 with a variety of disabilities including:
autism, down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, attention defecit disorder,
hearing impairments, learning disabilities, brain injuries, and
other disabilities.
Our programs center around helping people find the
fun in life and assisting them in eliminating barriers that people
with disabilities often face. Volunteers will develop skills in
working with special needs populations, and gain new friends that
will always look forward to seeing you.
