Exciting news from Camp K!!! Camp K has partnered with some amazing organizations to provide inclusive camp experiences for kids in elementary, Junior, and Senior High School. These are exciting programs designed to enjoy experiential learning in the beautiful outdoor setting of Camp Kostopulos. Many of our campers with disabilities have siblings and friends who do not have disabilities. Because we believe in inclusion, we want everyone to be able to experience the magic of our Summer Camp programs.
Most Partner Camps provide a 2-in-1 camping experience for kids without disabilities. The campers will spend half of each day at our partner’s facilities, learning about many exciting subjects, such as art, science, veterinary medicine, robotics, leadership, and many other great themes. Then, they will spend the other half of the day at Camp K, where they will participate in outdoor learning activities and nature education, swim, ride horses, traverse our high and low ropes courses, fish, hike, play water games, make s’mores at a campfire, and much more.
One extremely unique Partner Camp is the Ultimate Camp Experience. In this camp, campers are lucky enough to have a 5-in-1 camping experience! Each day finds campers at a different location with new experiences. While at Camp Kostopulos campers will enjoy ropes courses, spending time with the horses, rock climbing, and fishing. At Red Butte Garden, they will enjoy a plethora of garden adventures from plants to insects. At This is the Place they will learn about Utah’s past pioneer history through train rides, panning for gold, and pioneer activities. They will discover and meet some of the animals that call Utah’s Hogle Zoo home. And while at the Natural History Museum of Utah, they will participate in a range of science topics from chemistry and physics to earth science and biology. One week has never been so exciting!
Another incredible experience at Camp K this summer is our series, in partnership with Microsoft and the University of Utah, focused on learning valuable 21st Century skills. These skills include self-confidence, self-control, persistence, flexibility, adaptability, curiosity, initiative, communication, and collaboration – all while experiencing the fun, inclusive atmosphere at Camp K.
Camp K is grateful to our Partners for helping us provide these amazing experiences for our campers. Some of our other Partners, in addition to those mentioned above, are Bad Dog Arts and Tracy Aviary.
Through these opportunities at Camp K, everyone has fun, feels included, and just get to be kids.
