On March 6th, six participants and two staff members left Utah to enjoy two days at “The Happiest Place on Earth.”
Friday was spent exploring California Adventure Park. First, we explored the sights on Soarin’ over California. Then, we rode the wild rapids of Grizzly River Run, enjoyed singing along during the Little Mermaid ride, and pumped up our adrenaline on Screamin’ California! After lunch, we got front row seats to the Aladdin Musical and took a ride on the Tower of Terror before taking a break from rides to learn how to draw Jack Skellington (from the Tim Burton movie The Nightmare Before Christmas) – from a Disney Animator at Off the Page. We then took a stroll through Radiator Springs at Cars Land. During our visit, we were lucky enough to meet Lightning McQueen and friends, including Big Red, and everyone’s favorite tow-truck, Mater! We finished the night enjoying the Wonderful World of Color show put on over the Inspiration Lake.
Saturday was a beautiful day in California. We set off to ride some of the more popular attractions including: Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and Indian Jones Adventure. We loved every minute of every ride! Somehow, we even found time to stop and see Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh, take a relaxing ride on the Mark Twain Riverboat and meet the princesses of Disney’s latest movie – Frozen! Elsa and Ana!! At the end of the fun-filled, a Disney manager treated us to VIP seats to enjoy the firework show! Though it may sound like a cliché, looking at the excitement of our campers faces really does show how Disneyland is truly the place “where dreams come true.”
At a recent meeting, President of the Executive Board, Rex Wheeler, and Camp K’s Executive Director, Mircea Divricean, presented Board Member Nathan Kerr of Basic Research with a Service Award for donating the service of their chef for an entire summer. We, and our Campers, really appreciate it!!!
I am very pleased to announce that the Kostopulos Dream Foundation received a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator. For those not familiar with Charity Navigator, it is one of the most highly utilized and prestigious independent evaluators of charities and they provide the public with information regarding the finances, governance, and results of the charity. Our goals are to work to fulfill our mission, build our programs and camps, and reinforce the trust within our community and the services we provide.
We feel very honored to received this recognition.
Thank you all for your continued support!
Together we dream, together we do.
